» Road safety
» The control and general mechanics of the car
» The knowledge required to instruct a pupil

There is no limit on the number of times that you can sit a
part one.

Part 2 Eyesight and Driving Ability test

As part of the driving ability test, you are required to complete an eyesight test 27.5 meters 90ft.This is carried out in the same way as the normal driving test, i.e. by reading a vehicle's number plate. Then you will be asked 5 questions on vehicle safety and vehicle conditions IE tyres, lights, coolants and lubrication's.
All the questions and answers for the above are in this website under show me/tell me.
After this, you and the driving examiner will enter the car where he/she will explain what is required in the practical driving test. Then you do your best drive.Well that's the plan.

The driving examiner will expect you to show a very high level of understanding and knowledge of all aspects of driving, including:

» Road procedure
» Your knowledge about and control of your vehicle
» Good judgment of speed and distance of yourself and other road users
» Anticipation of the actions of pedestrians and other road users

You will also be required to carry out specific manoeuvres such as:

» Emergency stop

» Turning the car in the road using forward and reverse gears better known as the three point turn.

» Reversing the vehicle left and right into a limited opening.

» Reverse Parking.

» Meeting and crossing other road users

» Overtaking

On the driving ability test you are allowed no more than 6 minor faults. The test lasts for about a hour long and covers a greater area and will usually include motorway driving. The driving ability test can be conducted at Airdrie or Glasgow (Baillieston) test centres. You must complete the driving ability test within two years of passing your theory and hazard perception test. You are only allowed three attempts at the driving ability test,if you do not pass in the three attempts you must wait until the end of your two year period before you can start again.

Part 3 Test of Ability to Instruct

This tests not only your knowledge of all the aspects of driving but also your ability to explain and pass this information on to your pupil. As with the all the other tests, this will be to a very high standard, and will include:

» Controls of the vehicle
» Moving off and making normal stops
» General road position
» Use of mirrors and giving signals correctly
» Left and right turns
» Junctions
» Dealing with pedestrians
» Meeting and crossing the path of other road users
» Overtaking
» Manoeuvres such as turning in the road, reverse parking and reversing into a limited opening
» The emergency stop and use of mirrors

The driving examiner will expect you to show a high standard of knowledge including all aspects of driving and then to be able to pass on this knowledge with clarity, enthusiasm and in a friendly, relaxed manner. The test is split into two phases each lasting 30 minutes.

Phase 1. Beginner or a learner with limited driving skills

Phase 2. The pupil is at test standard or a qualified driver who is going through driver development training.

The driving examiner will role-play the part of the Pupil and you will be the Instructor teaching them. It is up to you as the Instructor, to find out how much experience your Pupil has!
How do you do that?
By Question-and-Answer-technique.
The Question-and-Answer technique is a very important tool when teaching a pupil to drive.
You can find Question-and-Answer-techniques on the online videos what type of questions that are best and how and when to ask them, there excellent.

You are only allowed three attempts at the instructional ability test. The training will be completed in our training vehicle and role play will be used extensively, Part 3 visual aids will be available if you require them. There is no limit on the amount of training you will need to pass this examination, as it is in our own interest, as a training provider, that you are ready for it
